Default PvP newbie needs tips

So I've been playing PvE for about 160 hours so far and am thinking about trying out some PvP. I only have one friend who also plays, so I'm probably going to hit the random arena (at least at first). Does it matter what level character I use? Should I use my primary lvl 19 N/Me who's only made it as far as Ventari's Refuge, or will I get my ass handed to me? Should I use a lower level character? Maybe create a new one for PvP only? Any etiquette tips I should know? Is there any reward for PvP that can be applied to the PvE portion of the game?

Thanks in advance for any helpful info.

Dont use running service . Play ur own char class well.I realised that alot of ppl who use running service dont play their own class well.I was in Hell percipice, had 2 w/mo in my team. Both of them got res sig instead of rebirth . I am totally impressed. Press b & see what other ppl are running in their skilbar, in observer mode.Know wat to do in different maps.Make pvp chars unless ther pve chat got full 200 attri points. As different classes are effective in 4vs4 and 8 vs 8, I suggest dont spend too much time in TA. Alot of ppl who get many con wins at TA think they are gonna be real good in HA.Expect to get lots of reject cos u are unranked. But... every1 gains fame that way. Well, if u use pve char... the exp and skil point counts.

It's probably better to "remake" your character as a PvP only character. Your armor, attribute points and weapons won't be at a disadvantate.

By killing other players and winning in PvP battles you earn Balthazar faction which you can "trade" in with a priest of balthazar to unlock skills and weapon modifications. You won't get the skills on your PvE character upon unlocking, but I think the unlocked (non-elite) skills can then be purchased by your PvE character from any skill trainer.
